Objectives
The Fukuzawa Memorial Center for Modern Japanese Studies was established with the following 4 objectives:
- 1 Study the ideas and achievements of Fukuzawa Yukichi
- 2 Carry out surveys and studies related to the history of Keio University (including Fukuzawa Academy) and the activities and achievements of Fukuzawa’s pupils and those with connections to Keio University
- 3 Collect, organize, preserve, and exhibit materials related to Fukuzawa Yukichi and Keio University
- 4 Carry out educational activities based on the outcomes of research related to Fukuzawa Yukichi and Keio University
Based on these objectives, at the Center, we are carrying out studies to position the ideas and achievements of Fukuzawa Yukichi , the founder of Keio University and a thinker representative of modern Japan, Keio University, and other related matters in modern history. We actively gather related documents, organize, and preserve them, while making these available to the public or putting them on exhibition. In addition, as an educational institution, we host established courses, open courses, symposiums, and lectures aimed toward students.
