Outline of collection

At the Center, we collect and store historical materials related to Fukuzawa Yukichi , Keio University, alumni, faculty and staff members, etc. Currently, we do not have an index of our collection made available to the public, but the main materials are recorded in the microfilm version of “Fukuzawa Kankei Monjo” (Yushodo Publishing, 1989-1998). Please refer to the index in “Fukuzawa Kankei Monjo.”
The microfilm version of “Fukuzawa Kankei Monjo” can be viewed at the National Diet Library, Mita Media Center, etc. Some of the materials listed in the index do not belong to us, but to other institutions. Please be sure to check the commentary for each material.

※Viewing of original materials is limited only to cases where the material is not included in the microfilm or proper judgements cannot be made from the microfilm copy.

Materials related to the history of Keio University

The Center possesses a wide variety of materials, including documents, photographs, booklets, clothing, and mementos, relating to Keio University since its establishment in 1858 as Fukuzawa Academy, people who studied and taught at Keio University, and other related matters and individuals. Through the transfer of control of documents not in use, we continuously receive materials from other departments of the university. We also have materials received through donations or entrusted to us by the owners, as well as those acquired through purchases.
In recent years, we are particularly interested in collected materials related to our “Keio University and War” project.
